Windberg, Knowlton Lamar, Frederick Management implications of coyote spacing patterns in southern Texas. 1988 Journal of Wildlife Management 52(4):632-40

p. 639
"... with the methods currently available, extirpation of coyotes over large areas is not feasible or practical. Where removal efforts are limited in duration or scope, they have only transitory effects (Connolly and Longhurst 1975)... Ultimately, recurring costs and benefits of a repetitive removal strategy should be weighed in relation to those of other protective measures."
