Introduction

"The purpose of this report is to present historical and current distribution information, and to identify and evaluate the issues and possible threats affecting Idaho's lunx population. This report will provide a framework for conservation of lynx in Idaho or for Idaho's involvement in regional conservation efforts."

"Currently, the trapping season in Idaho is closed. However, incidental takes during the bobcat and coyote trapping seasons may be cause for concern, especially with low-density lynx populations." (15)

Idaho Forest Practices Act found to be inadequate to protect adequate tree densities for lynx travel cover ("Class I" zones), and "Class II protection zones are likely to provide less value as habitat for prey species and lynx." (23)

Descibes and documents growth in dispersed motorized recreation in Idaho, and potential threats to lynx.

Appendix table documents five "confirmed" and 26 "probable" lynx sightings recorded during the past decade in Idaho.
