"Loss of suitable habitat for Canada lynx reduces the potential for population growth or recolonization of the lynx and further confines lynx to smaller, more isolated habitat units (Weaver 1993). Isolation increases the susceptibility of the lynx to human-caused threats, natural stochastic events, and effects of genetic bottlenecks (Andrews 1992; Weaver 1993)." (USDI 1998, p. 37005)
