This paper is a continuing report on the status and success of the wolf restoration programs in NW Montana, central Idaho, and Yellowstone National Park. It includes a brief history of the Recovery Plan for the wolf in the northern Rockies of the U.S. Reintroduced wolves as well as wolves that were captured and released for management purposes were radio collared and relocated approximately 2-4 times per month. The wolf's location, activity, association with other wolves, livestock or other prey in the area and kills were recorded. Researchers found that wolf recovery in the Greater Yellowstone area and central Idaho had progressed faster than predicted.
